Tuesdays MLB slate features three aces with a game score of 60 or better and 12 pitchers with a game score of 50 or less. Lets dig right into all the information you need to know to help set your fantasy lineups.PitchingEliteMadison Bumgarner dominates the NL West which isnt surprising, but it might be a little shocking to realize that he does his best work against the Dodgers. They are the only team in the division that has been consistently solid throughout Bumgarners career, but that hasnt stopped him from a 2.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 5.0 K:BB ratio in 150 2/3 innings against them. Nothing good comes out of Clayton Kershaw being hurt -- the world is better when hes pitching -- but it could open the door for Bumgarners first Cy Young award. Hes the top pick for Tuesday. When is nearly doubling your walk rate not a major issue? When you also lead baseball in hits allowed per nine innings, as Jake Arrieta does this year. His walk rate has spiked from 1.9 to 3.5, but he continues to leads the league in hit rate at just 6.1, up slightly from last years 5.9. Now if he keeps walking seven per start as he did against Milwaukee last time out, then we are going to have a problem. San Diego is in the bottom 10 for walk rate against right-handed pitchers, so Id be surprised if they drew too many free passes out of him.SolidChris Archer might surprise you with a projected game score of 60, as Im sure you perception of his season isnt too favorable. But he has turned it around lately. Consider that he took a 4.66 ERA into the All-Star break and now has a 4.18 mark heading into Tuesdays showdown with Boston. Of course, those last two words are giving me pause: with Boston. Thats why I just couldnt put him in the elite, even with an elite-level projected GS. Since the break he has a 3.06 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 56 strikeouts and a sparkling 7.0 K:BB ratio in 47 innings. Boston has hit him for 15 earned in 16 2/3 innings this year, all three starts falling below 50 in game score (26, 39, 48).Tanner Roark lacks the strikeouts to be a full-out DFS stud, but he has been really good this year. I give him real consideration every fifth day, especially if Im investing heavily in pitching and want to make him my SP2.Jaime Garcia is cut from the solid-if-unspectacular cloth. Hes not huge strikeout guy, but hell spike a big game as evidenced by a pair of double-digit strikeout outings. The veteran southpaw has a couple of duds in his seven post-break starts, but outside of those (six earned runs at Miami, five earned runs at Houston), he does have a 2.46 ERA in the other five starts. Garcia is in play at home against the New York Mets.StreamersKevin Gausman is finally showing the strikeout upside weve been waiting for, especially over his last 10 starts with 67 strikeouts in 59 innings, but it hasnt translated into surefire results just yet. He has been more good than bad, but still has a 3.81 ERA and 1.29 WHIP that should make you cautious about overinvesting. Facing the Washington Nationals also makes it tough to dive in headfirst. He cant seem to curb the homers with enough consistency to be fully trusted, either. The stupid thing about Coors Field is... well, everything if youre a pitcher. Jon Gray has some decent home starts this year, but by and large it has been problematic (5.11 ERA). Thankfully, hes back on the road Tuesday, and Id be willing to take a shot on him at Milwaukee. His three best game scores have all come on the road (78, 72, and 70). The Brewers have the highest strikeout rate and ninth-worst OPS against righties this year.Is there anything worse than seeing your gamble SP pitch well for six innings only to be pushed into the seventh and see it fade away? Thats what happened to Sean Manaea his last time out. Im torn because I generally like when teams start pushing the limits of their pitchers. After all, thats the only way theyre going to learn how to handle it. But Oakland sent Manaea out for the seventh with 101 pitches, five away from his season high. He allowed two base hits on three pitches, and he was out. The bullpen allowed both to score and a quality start quickly disintegrated into a 6 IP/5 ER dud. He and Gausman arent too far off in the second half with Manaea having a better WHIP, while Gausman is getting more strikeouts.Joe Musgrove was pummeled at Baltimore in his last outing, so it turns out hes just like every other pitcher. In other words, Im not really holding it against him. If anything, Im going to spin it and say it was slightly impressive that he actually made it into the sixth inning despite giving up 5 ER on six hits in the first two innings. He has got solid stuff, generates swings and misses, and doesnt walk guys. Heading to PNC Park should help alleviate a redux of the homer-fest in Camden, too.Only 20 pitchers have at least two 80 game-score outings this year. Anibal Sanchez is one of them, and both have come in August. He also opened the month with a solid 55 (6 IP/1 ER), but his third start of the month was a 16 (4 IP/8 ER). The bottom line is that hes unquestionably pitching better, showing glimpses of his 2013-14 self, but that success was driven by home run suppression and he has got a 1.7 HR/9 since the start of 2015.Ivan Nova and Dan Straily have both pitched pretty well of late, but home runs keep both from consistently excelling. Well, thats not entirely true. Straily has a 2.61 ERA in the past month despite a 1.7 HR/9, but Nova has a 4.55 ERA in that same span, likely due to his 1.6 HR/9. The Astros offense has been better in the second half, but they still strike out a good bit, and Nova is at home, so I could see giving him a shot...Avoid...but Straily gets the Rangers and Great American Ballpark isnt exactly a good spot for a home run issue.Im going to be careful with Danny Salazar here and probably look elsewhere during a full slate. His first start off the DL went just an inning. The silver lining is that he threw a bullpen during that same game, which hopefully means he didnt suffer reinjury, but instead was just rusty. Its hard to ignore such a good pitcher in Oakland, but I think its best to do so today.HittingTheres no game in Coors! I cant remember the last Tuesday we had like this... and Im too lazy to look it up. The Tyler Skaggs-R.A. Dickey matchup in Toronto could be the Coors-esque game of the night. Options are limited for the Angels outside of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. Jett Bandy has done the bulk of his damage against lefties, but Dickey has been an equal opportunity hit-allower with an .800 OPS against righties and lefties, so you could consider him if you need to save money behind the dish.Skaggs is returning from Tommy John surgery, and after a couple decent starts to open his season, he has been rocked in his last three. I really like Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki?and Devon Travis getting the platoon advantage. Skaggs has really struggled with lefties which brings Michael Saunders into play as his breakout has been fueled by improvements against southpaws (.978 OPS, compared to .691 career).Robbie Ray continues to give up gobs of hard contact. Its basically either strikeout or well-struck ball, so he has a 4.31 ERA and 1.41 WHIP despite his gaudy 11.2 K/9. Ray has a 3.16 second-half ERA, but his hard-hit contact rate has surged to 40 percent. However, taking advantage of this will be difficult on Tuesday because youd have to draft some Braves hitters into your lineup. Can you even name four current Braves hitters not including Freddie Freeman? The Rockies are on the road in Milwaukee, but facing Chase Anderson can have a bit of a Coors effect on your numbers. For his career, he has struggled more with righties despite being a right-hander himself. The issue has been exacerbated this year with a .949 OPS against them. Miller Park isnt a bad venue at all for hitting, so Im looking at Nolan Arenado and DJ LeMahieu, for sure. Im not averse to dropping some lefties in the lineup, too. Carlos Gonzalez and David Dahl are of particular interest. Charlie Blackmon would be too, but he was scratched for the series opener on Monday with a toe injury, so stay tuned there. Most likely to go yard: Wilson RamosHe really crushes lefties, but 11 of his 19 home runs have come against righties, and I think he gets Gausman here. Most likely to swipe a bag: Keon BroxtonQuick, who has the most stolen bases in August? No, its not Broxton. I totally tricked you with that setup. Its Billy Hamilton by a giant margin (18 to Jonathan Villars 10), but Broxton does sit tied for third with nine. Hes finally panning out on that Spring Training hype... only took him four months!NCAA Basketball Jerseys Cheap . Shane Hnidy joins Brian Munz for the broadcast on TSN 1290 Radio at 7pm ct.RENTON, Wash. -- Richard Sherman felt no need to apologize. The Seattle Seahawks cornerback said Wednesday that he has no regrets about his angry sideline tirade during the Atlanta game that has become as much a part of the conversation as the Seahawks sitting at 4-1 or their game this Sunday at division rival Arizona.Nope, nothing at all, Sherman said.Shermans eruption in the win over the Falcons was a rare public display of strife among players and coaches. It took teammates Bobby Wagner, Kam Chancellor and Michael Bennett to finally calm Sherman. But what became clear since the tirade are the events that led to Shermans outburst. There was a miscommunication between Sherman and backup safety Kelcie McCray that led to two different coverages being played and leaving Julio Jones uncovered down the sideline for a 36-yard touchdown.Sherman was livid, although initially it was difficult to see what set him off other than the Seahawks blowing coverage and giving up an easy touchdown. Footage released Tuesday and broadcast on Inside the NFL showed defensive coordinator Kris Richard and Sherman shouting at each other as the defense came off the field. Shermans anger ramped up after that, leading to sideline confrontations with coaches and teammates that took nearly the entire third quarter to simmer down.Sherman said he has talked with Richard about what happened. There wasnt much of a need. Weve had a conversation but nothing outside of the norm. I think everything is pretty much understood, Sherman said.Shermans anger did have a lingering effect. Atlanta scored touchdowns on its next two possessions -- including another long TD on an apparent blown coverage. The Seahawks recovered in the fourth quarter. Atlanta was held to 24 total yards and Sherman had a hand -- literally -- in the key turnover when Matt Ryans pass slipped through Jones hands, was batted in the air by Sherman and was interccepted by Earl Thomas.ddddddddddddWe know each other, we understand each other, its happened at practice several times, linebacker K.J. Wright said. If it happens, correct it, fix it, move on. Thats what we did. We moved on and we found a way to finish the game and then we fixed it the next day.Sherman was also irritated by how the final play of the game was portrayed during the weekly NFL show. Officials received criticism for not calling pass interference on Sherman for pulling Jones right arm as he attempted to catch a deep throw from Ryan on fourth-and-10. A penalty call would have put the Falcons in field goal range in the closing seconds.Sherman was upset the footage didnt show the beginning of the play where Jones hit Sherman in the facemask coming off the line of scrimmage, which could have drawn a flag.Even the NFL played a video and didnt show the front of the play. Thats just how this league is about defensive players, said Sherman, who added that he believed the edit was 100 percent intentional. This is far from the first time Seattles dealt with internal conflict, but rarely has it come in such a public forum. Most notable were the issues between Percy Harvin and teammates during the 2013 Super Bowl title run that carried over into the following season and were in part behind his trade to the New York Jets.We dont really try and change anybody. We embrace who they are as a person and who they are as people. When you embrace who they are you know kind of what to do to bring them back, Wagner said. (Stuff) happens.
